Boring Checklists – Let’s sophisticate them a Bit!

There are so many checklist mobile apps in the market. And almost all the apps functionality is more or less similar. The basic functionality is to provide a text box where the user can add his items and save. In addition to this, the app provides sort, delete, reminder, etc. options which the user can use based on his requirements.

Now, this blog wants to suggest a new checklist solution that makes the mundane checklist software more interactive and entertaining. It wants to spice up the above user's experience by providing him a different kind of checklist solution. It suggests showing the geographical map to the user based on his location and enabling him to add items to the checklist based on different places. For example, if the user has to go to laundry shop, super market, and saloon on a particular day, normally, he lists out all the items that are supposed to be bought by him in a checklist. Now, based on whichever place he reaches first (laundry shop/super market/saloon), every time he goes through the checklist, checks for the related items that are available for buying in that particular place, and finally, strikes off those items that he buys from his checklist.

Now, as per the blog, instead of allowing the user to list all the tasks in the same checklist, why not the checklist app show him a map based on his current location, enable him to mark the areas/place that he wants to go, pop-up a checklist beside the places so that he can add items respective to that place, and finally suggest an optimized route taking the current traffic, places to go, and other related factors into consideration.
From his current place, the map shows navigation to the place that the user is supposed to go, pops up the checklist related to that place, enable the user to strike off items that he has bought, and finally alerts the user if he forgets to strike off any item related to the place where he is in right now before he crosses the perimeter of it.  Won't this be helpful to the user?

Besides, if the app enables the user to export the route map to someone else who has to visit same places, then it is like an icing on the cake.
Note: If you want to dig into the above idea to know more about it, you are always welcome!
