People refer hill ‘slope’ as an analogy to indicate ‘difficulties’
and ‘easiness’ in a particular situation in their discussions. To convey that a
particular task is difficult to do, they say it is an uphill task. If doing a
particular task is so easy, then they say it is just like running down a slope.
However, if you are a trekker, in either case (while going down and climbing up),
you need to be very careful. The first thing is that you should need a good
pair of sneakers, which have a good grip, and other supporting trekking
equipment, which helps you to save yourself from falling down while negotiating
slopes.
Running on steep slopes is quite dangerous as the
possibility of falling down and breaking your knees is more. You need lot of
control over your body while negotiating slopes. If you are going up the slope,
you have to spend lot of energy. Athletes train themselves negotiating slopes. They
religiously go for uphill slopes to increase their stamina. Downhill slopes
require lot of control on your body; however, your body consumes less energy
while going down the slope compared to going up.
Ankles play a great role in your body while dealing with slopes.
Steeper the angle, more the grip you require. The chances of getting skid are
more while negotiating steeper slopes. You need to wear sneakers, which have a good
grip.
When you are trying to climb a hill, during trekking, always
look out for something strong to hold and which gives you a grip. The best
thing is to have a strong stick in your hand which has a sharp edge. So, before
you make a step, first, try to pierce the stick (with the sharp edge side) in
the ground with force. Once you get the hold, then move your body one step
further. This way, you can minimize the chances of falling down the slope.
In summary, slopes test your energy and patience levels. If your
body is fit and you have a technique, then you are ready to go. Otherwise, get
ready to break your bones!
Good luck!
